Claim 1 A lymphocyte which expresses a chimeric receptor which permits said lymphocyte to direct its cellular immune response toward a predefined target antigen in a non-MHC restricted manner, the lymphocyte contg recombinant DNA encoding > one chimeric receptors, the recombinant DNA comprising - DNA coding for at least an intracellular region of a native cell receptor & - DNA coding for an antigen binding region of an Ab specific for the predefined target antigen, wherein said Ab is speci fic towards a tumor specific antigen, a tumor associated antigen, viral antigen or autoimmune disease type antigen Claim 8 Process of directing the immune response of a patient toward predefined target antigen - Transfecting lymphocyte with recombinant DNA encoding chimeric receptor, the said DNA comprising (a) DNA co ding for intracellular region of native cell receptor & (b) DNA coding for an antigen binding region of an Ab specific for the predefined target antigen - Inoculating the patient with transfected lymphocyte |
