The researchers discovered that people with SNP variant of Gene PPAR-Gama has a 25% greater probability to develop diabetes type II. This susceptibility gene appears in 85% of population The PPAR-Gama Gene affects the development of cells responsible for fat storage, controlling which will transform in adipose tissue. There had been always a belief of relationship between this gene & diabetes, but as majority of studies involved a small group of people, it was never possible to proof this thesis.
