Process of making a crystallisable polymer having divalent aromatic units connected by ether linkages & MW > 10,000 as determined by inherent visc.: - Forming a polycondensation reaction mixt contg difunctio nal monomers having phenolic end groups, polyconden sing monomer to form polymer, & thereafter isolating the polymer from mixt. Wherein a nucleating agent is added to polycondensation reaction mixt during polycondensing step when the polymer is within 15% of MW of the isolated polymer, the nucleating agent comprising nucleophilic group & group of formula -A-X where X is metal cation & A is anion Wherein X & A are selected - To provide polymer with peak crystallisation T which is higher than peak crystallisation T of crystallisable polymer having same MW & which is made without nucleating agent - To make the polymer crystallisable as compared to non- crystallisable polymer having same MW & made without nucleating agent |
