Water-dispersible cure agent for epoxy resins which, when mixed with epoxy resins, shows the end of the cure time by at least a tripling of visc., whereby the cure agent is prepd by process comprising reacting - > 2 aliphatic polyols having a wt.-av. MW of mixt 200-20,000 g/mol - Epoxide compd having > 2 epoxide groups/mole & speci fic epoxide group content 500-10,000 mmol/kg & an EEW 100-2,000 g/mol, to provide an epoxide-polyol adduct (AB) Then reacting this adduct with - Polyamines (C) having > 3 amine H & > one primary amino group/mole. Where ratio of number of -OH of (A) to number of epoxide groups of (B) is 1:3-1:10, preferably 1:3.5-1:9 & ratio of number of remaining epoxide groups in epoxide-polyol adduct to number of amine H in (C) is 1:1.5-1:100, preferably 1:2-1:20 Wherein the adduct (AB) is either made by separately reacting (A1) having wt.-av MW < 4000 with epoxide comp (B) & polyol (A2) having wt.-av MW > 4000 with epoxide comp. (B) & subsequently mixing these epoxide polyol adducts (A1B) in mass fraction of < 99%, & (A2B) in mass fraction of > 1%, each based on mass of mixt (AB), to form (AB) |
