Radiation-curable, water-dilutable urethane resin obtained by reacting in first reaction step - Cycloaliphatic diisocyanate (1 mol) (A) - (Meth)acryloyl-contg dihydroxy compd (B1) in an amount such that amount of reactive -OH groups in (B1) is 0.2-0.6 mol, & - Tri- or tetrahydric polyol (B2) which has been partly esteri fied with (meth)acrylic acid & has a residual av hydroxyl functionality 1-1.4 in the mole., in an amount such that the amount of the reactive -OH in (B2) is 0.4-0.8 mol The amounts of (B1) & (B2) being chosen so that the sum of the amounts of the reactive -OH groups of (B1) & (B2) in the first step is 1.0 mol, whereby 40-60% of the isocyanate groups of (A) are converted into urethane groups, & subse quently reacting the resulting intermediate with - An aliphatic saturated monocarboxylic acid (C) having > 2 -OH groups, wherein the amount of the reactive -OH in (C) is 0.6-1 mol until the -OH groups (C) have undergone complete reaction, the molar proportions of the comp (A) to (C) being chosen so that the number of the -NCO groups & -OH groups present in comp (A) to (C) are in ratio to one another 0.9:1 - 1:1 & Wherein the reaction prodt possesses -COOH groups in accordance with the acid number 20-40 mg/g & has a specific double bond content of < 3.5 mol/kg |
