- Reacting olefins & feed aromatics to form alkylaromatics in an on-stream alkylation zone in the presence of solid alky lation catalyst at alkylation conditions, the said conditions being sufficient to at least partially deactivate at least por tion of catalyst & withdrawing from zone an on-stream effluent stream comprising alkylaromatics & feed aromatics (Step A) - Passing portion of on-stream effluent stream to a rectifier, & separating into overhead stream contg feed aromatics & depleted in alkylaromatics & bottom stream contg feed aromatics & enriched in alkylaromatics (Step B) - Recycling portion of overhead stream to alkylation zone - Passing portion of bottom stream to fractionation zone, sepn into overhead stream contg feed aromatics & deple ted in alkylaromatics & bottom stream contg feed aromatics & enriched alkylaromatics (Step D) - Recovering alkylaromatics from fractionation bottom stream - Passing portion of fractionation overhead stream to an off- stream alkylation zone contg said deactivated catalyst, contacting said catalyst with portion of fractionation overhead stream to at least partially regenerate the catalyst & to pro duce at least partially regenerated catalyst & withdrawing an off-stream effluent stream contg feed aromatics - Passing portion of off-stream effluent stream to the rectifier - Periodically shifting the functions of the on-stream & off- stream alkylation zones by operating the off-stream alkyla tion zone to function as the on-stream alkylation zone in (A) & 9C) & operating the on-stream alkylation zone to function as the off-stream alkylation zone in (F) |
