- Introducing feedstock contg benzene or toluene reactant & 9-10C alkylaromatic hydrocarbon reactant contg > 1 Me or Et group to a REACTIVE CHROMATOGRAPHY fixed bed reaction & adsorption zone comprising a catalyst effective to transalkylate the reactants & provide > one C8 alkylaromatic hydrocarbon prodt & an adsorbent effective to selectively adsorb the 9-10C alkylaromatic hydrocarbon prodt(s), said zone operating under conditions effective for transalkylation & selective adsorption & having a H atm. such that the mole ratio H/Hydrocarbon = 0.1-6 - Introducing a desorbent capable of desorbing the 9-10C alkylaromatic hydrocarbon reactant(s) to first portion of said zone, & withdrawing an effluent contg at least one prodt from second portion of zone - Redirecting after a period of time, the introduction of the desorbent to second portion of zone & concurrently moving the location of the withdrawal of the effluent to the first portion of zone - Continuing alternating the introduction of the desorbent bet ween the first portion & second portion of zone while concu rrently alternating the withdrawal of the effluent between the second portion & first portion of zone |
