Process for the production of butene-1 from a feedstream contg butene-1, butene-2, isobutene, & pentenes - Passing stream & alc stream at etherification & sepn condi tions to catalytic distn zone having an upper catalytic zone & lower catalytic zone & contacting portion of feedstream in upper zone contg etherification catalyst & therein etherifying the isobutene with alc to produce tert. alkyl ether - Contacting remeining portion of feedstream in presence of H at isomerization condition in lower zone contg isomeriza tion catalyst for isomerization of butene-2 to butene-1 to produce additional amount of butene-1 - Recovering bottoms prodt stream from catalytic distn zone comprising pentenes & tert alkyl ether - Recovering top stream from distn zone contg H - Withdrawing side draw stream at point above upper zone said side draw stream comprising alc & butene-1 - Passing side draw stream to alc recovery zone to provide butene-1 prodt stream & an oxygenate stream & returning portion of oxygenate stream to first step to provide portion of alc stream |
