MECHANISM OF ACTION |
Scientists of - Harvard Medical School (USA) - Massachusetts General Hospital (USA) - Universitaet Heidelberg (Germany) may have a new TARGET for drugs to treat the disease. The researchers have found that AMYLOID protein binds Cu & Fe & produces H2O2 out of O when doing so, Laboratory studies show that chemicals reacting with Cu & Fe, which bind to the amyloid, can inhibit the production of H2O2. "If we could make drugs that specifically shut down the ability of amyloid to produce H2O2 from O", said Bush, "then we might have a new therapeutic approach" |
